COPPER CASTING FACILITY Introduction: On September 30, 1995 after over 40 years of mining, Copper Range suspended its conventional underground mining and milling operations due to high operating costs and a deterioration of mining conditions in one part of the mine. Smelting operations were shut down in February, 1995. As part of the rationalization of the assets of the operations, White Pine Copper desires to offer the continuous fine casting facility for sale as a whole facility.
Description of Fine Casting: The continuous fine casting section of the refinery was installed at White Pine and placed into operation in 1981. The continuous casting plant is designed for casting copper in a one, two, and four stand operation for cake, billets, and wire bars. During the year of 1983, this operation was terminated. The facility was used for copper casting. It can be used for a number of material production applications including zinc, aluminum and lead. The facility can be easily disassembled and removed from its location by road or rail, with easy access to major destinations domestically or internationally.
Fine Casting Operating Data: Ideal operating hours are four (4) 10-hour shifts per week to produce 1,500 tons of shapes per month with 96% recovery. At least two (2) days per month are necessary for repairs and maintenance. Cast Shapes Produced:
